Hartley & Son has traded from the same shop corner since 1984. We're independent, open six days a week (closed Sundays), and run by people who know every drawer of screws by heart. That's not nostalgia — that's forty years of trust built one customer at a time.

Hand and power tools

Hammers, saws, drills, sanders and the bits that go with them. We stock the brands that last and can point you toward the right tool for the job.

Nuts, bolts and fixings

Sold loose or boxed. Whether you need one screw or a hundred, we have it counted and labelled so you know exactly what you're taking home.

Paint mixed while you wait

Any colour, any quantity. Bring us a sample or describe what you're after and we'll mix it to match. No guessing, no waste.

Garden supplies

Compost, seed, hand tools, twine and everything else for growing things or keeping the garden in order.

Keys cut on the spot

Bring your key, walk out with a copy. No waiting, no online forms.

The big sheds have stopped stocking the small awkward things. We haven't. If what you're after isn't on the shelf — a particular hinge, a specific fastener, a tool nobody else carries — we'll happily order it in specially. It's what independent shops do best: taking the time to get you exactly what you need, not just what fits a standard range.

Delivery for the bigger jobs

Bags of cement, rolls of fencing, multiple tins of paint — we offer local delivery so you're not carrying everything home by yourself. Perfect for the jobs that add up in weight or size.
